A southern perspective on equal representation in South North school partnerships

All teachers and NGO staff who are participating or have participated in a school partnership, and anyone else who is interested in global learning issues and the development of South North school partnerships.

A school partnership between institutions in the Global North and the Global South does not take place in a vacuum. Five hundred years of colonial history have created global power imbalances that continue to shape our world today. These imbalances manifest in concrete factors that influence school partnerships—such as vastly different economic conditions in the partner countries or the stereotypical images that exist about each other (both in the Global North and the Global South). Media coverage often reinforces and perpetuates these assumptions and prejudices.

In this training course, we explore how partnership-based encounters and cooperation can be fostered within this context.
